Eating shortly after we have worked out and before dinner, for that matter, seems to defeat the purpose . . . but we . . . I . . . seem to be doing that more often. And my food choices have gotten stranger. I just crave the oddest things.
As usual, I cook dinner . . .
. . . then bake dessert. I'm eager to start my new job. I've even considered opening my own restaurant. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for but now doesn't seem like the right time.
Meanwhile, Jules misses dinner again as he paints furiously at his easel. The galleries he sells to have told us that all five of his paintings since he moved to the balcony have been masterpieces. We decided to keep a couple of them and hang them up in the house. The rest were shipped off to the art gallery to seek buyers.
Soon we are all in bed after another long day. Everything seems to have come together for us. I know the kids were upset about leaving home and leaving behind out beloved pets, but this new place is finally becoming home, causing the old place to become a distant memory. Unfortunately I felt very ill the next morning . . .
On a hunch, I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive! The unexplained weight gain, the heightened maternal instincts, the food cravings . . . it all made sense now.
I wasn't sure how Jules would react when I told him. Neither one of us had planned on having a forth child. We are more than ready to have the two teens we have out of the house for good. Although we don't ever want them to go far.
Don't worry! He was excited too. Now how to break it to the kids . . .
Jules finally settled on an art gallery he wanted to commission with. They gave him more responsibility then just sending them art work. He spent most days away from home . . . just like a real job. Don't tell him I said that.
Thankfully a local restaurant heard of my reputation and hired me even though I would be taking maternity leave soon. I hadn't realized that anyone would know my name this far from our old home. They said after my pregnancy, once the infants got old enough, they would have a full time job available for me. On my way home, I stopped at the library and swiped a desk lamp . . . Old habits die hard!
We fell back into a routine after the excitement of new jobs and the news of a new baby on the way. I drove the kids crazy wanting to get involved in helping them with their homework again. Practice for our new baby, I told them. They didn't like that answer, but as soon as they finished their homework, they headed for the game table. It's good to see them getting along in their teen years.
Back to the kitchen I went. I cooked entirely too much due to my cravings and over-indulging at dinner. I used the excuse that I needed to practice before the real work began.
Some blackened bass . . . yes, I had to take a break to have pre-dinner. Don't judge.
Jules keeps popping in to talk to my belly and love on me. I appreciate the renewed attention, but had to keep shooing him out so I could finish cooking.
He quickly relented when I told him what I had planned for dessert and, if he left me in peace, what I had planned after dessert . . .
Jules went back to his new obsession. I couldn't complain since he had agreed to give up his magic and had stayed true to his word. Even the kids had given up everything magic to help him stay on course. Anything to keep him distracted from his mischievous ways of the past.
It's funny how you can mention something such as wanting fresh ingredients to cook with and then it becomes your husband third obsession . , , or forth or fifth.
Ricky and Faon came over as soon as they found a daycare that could watch Jeanie for the day. Faon couldn't stop talking to the growing baby. She didn't even let me get dressed for the day before zoning in on my tummy. I have to remind myself that she's from Sixam and not from here.
Jules, John and Ashley spent most of the day by the pool. I didn't even see Ricky before he had to leave to check on Jeanie. A call from the daycare reported that she felt warm and fussed more than usual. I suspected she used her alien powers to get her way, even as an infant.
While Faon and I discussed the baby, Jules gets the bright idea to grill hot dogs. There's a reason I'm the cook in the family and he leaves it entirely up to me! He started a fire on our brand new grill. I hadn't even had a chance to break it in.
Thankfully we received insurance money to go toward purchasing a new one and the only lasting damage done happened to be Jules' pride.
He heated up some of the bass I cooked the day before and started to join us in the living room to eat, but I ran him off to clean up before he sat on our still new furniture.
He huffed away to the bath. I sometimes feel as though I have three teenagers in the house. And now I have another one on the way! Thankfully, the teen years wouldn't be for some times.
A Note from ShayDLane:
I told my hubby that Jules was going to start a fire. He was quite amused when exactly that happened. I was so excited by the whole ordeal that I forgot to take screenshot! It was too funny!
I actually played until the baby was born but that post isn't finished yet, so I'm going to add the stats here.
